Flying Fish

Linoleum block print of Seward, Alaska. Final composition was a combination of multiple photos taken at Miller's Landing (just South of Seward on Resurrection Bay).

I had a daily sketching practice during this trip to Alaska, and one of my favorite details to come out of any sketch was the guy with the hose spraying the fish.

I then started a long process of sketching.

Things clicked into place when I realized I should combine the two images into one composition.

I finally pulled some good prints, but decided something was missing and added the wave border.
